Casas de Pedra- In Serra do Caramulo, where the District of Aveiro meets the District of Viseu

In Serra do Caramulo, more exactly in Urgueira, in the parish of Macieira de Alcôba and municipality of Águeda, you will find our 4 stone houses. Different types and sizes, some will adapt to what you are looking for. Contact us, and quickly we will indicate the ideal one for you.

The new reception and social room

We have created a new and cozy space for a simple coffee or a movie with surrounding sound, for two fingers of conversation, listening to music, or even for a few moments of leisure around the game table. You will also find here a wide range of information made available by the municipalities that influence us. All of them have routine tourism offices, and they send us relevant information

The Outer Areas

The set of stone houses is located in the village of Urgueira. This small village became known for the tradition that resulted from the alleged miracle. It will not have more than a dozen inhabitants, who are essentially dedicated to rural tasks. The most numerous population is even of animals and varied vegetation. Mr. Flausino's small flock of sheep is already considered by our guests to be one of the main attractions, on their way to and from the pastures. But it is also common to encounter foxes and sometimes wild boars.
Besides our open air swimming pool common to all four Casas de Pedra, we also have the Shadows Garden (under construction), and a few meters from the village, the Chapel of S.Domingos, the Chapel of Nossa Senhora da Guia, and the image of Our Lady in the playground. Next is the Community Oven and a little further on is the Monte do Junqueira belvedere. Here you cannot miss the fantastic sunset overlooking the Aveiro region. If the weather allows, you can see the Ria de Aveiro, and one of the best images over the Atlantic Ocean that the eyes can reach. The relief of the Boa Viagem Mountain in Figueira da Foz is clearly visible about 70km away, so if you look in the opposite direction, you will have the Espinho region. A total of almost 140 km of Atlantic Coast, provide therefore one of the most spectacular views in Europe over the immensity of the sea.

Our Interactive Map

Sometimes, being in the quiet of the mountain, some basic needs seem unattainable. An ATM terminal, a gas station, the mini-market, a simple coffee shop, or the best of restaurants may seem far away. But no. They are all less than 5 km away. Okay, the gas station is 12 away, but all the others are right next door - and soon you will have the new Mini Market, Mini Bottle and Mini Bar right in your house.

So we have compiled everything that is important to you on this map. In addition to what we have already listed, we have added the PR3 and PR4 walking paths, points of interest, commercial areas... in short, everything. Just click on the link, and explore the map.

The Involvement at Our Periphery

It is indisputable that the main wealth is really the gift of nature. The forest, the hills, the rivers and streams, besides the natural pools, but that is not all we have to offer. From the pre-historical presence in the dolmen of Paranho de Arca, to the several religious buildings, to the unique Museu do Caramulo, the attractions are by themselves a reason to come here. But if there is something that makes many of you travel a good few miles to visit us, it is surely the local gastronomy, the sweets and the wines and liqueurs produced in the region. We must also highlight the production of honey and jams, and, before long, the cheese. Stay tuned, because our online store and the houses will soon be equipped with all these products, so you don't have to go looking for them one by one.

And the cities that influence us

Many of those who visit us take the opportunity to get to know the entire region that goes from Coimbra to Porto, or from Aveiro to Viseu. These are district capitals that need no introduction or praise. The most distant ones are just over an hour away, but others, smaller ones, like Tondela, Oliveira de Frades, Albergaria-a-Velha, Sever do Vouga or Águeda, are 20 to 30km away. Our county seat, Águeda, is today an emerging reference in national tourism and is quickly conquering a prominent place on the European and world scene.
